ECD TURNS 4 ✨

Four years ago today, I took a major chance and left a 9am-5pm design firm behind to take my passion full time.

I will never forget how scary those first steps were, and thinking how this may impact my career.

Since then, there have been many long days and nights, lessons learned and lasting relationship created. It has been so rewarding being my own boss and having the opportunity to grow ECD.

All of it has been worth the chance to work with amazing clients and have complete creative freedom.

Here’s to another four!

Drawing inspiration from and paying homage to a New York City transitional brownstone, this is project Euclid.

Nestled on a quiet street in the heart of the city, this detached build boasts on its custom details. As you walk through the front gate your eyes will be drawn to the facade covered in Indiana limestone paired with red clay brick and dark Hardie board siding.

Upon entering the home, you will notice stunning herringbone floors, custom forged metal railings, bespoke stone mantelpieces, coffered ceilings, and panel-ready appliances in both the kitchen and primary walk-in closet. All details that make this property truly unique.

With its elegantly transitional design and high end up upgrades including:

Shop finished cabinetry on every floor, designer light fixtures throughout, solid surfaces in the kitchen and bathrooms, 96” door height with polished nickel backplates and honeycomb knobs, and custom mirrors with wall-mounted sconces in the bathrooms.

The addition of a third level sees unparalleled privacy as a dedicated primary suite. The third-floor skylight lets in natural light onto the staircase. As you reach the landing, you enter directly into the primary dressing room complete with island and floor-to-ceiling cabinetry. On opposite wings, at the front of the house, you will find the ensuite with a freestanding tub. At the back of the house, you will find the primary bedroom.

Modern enhancements include smart home technology with a built in sound system and added security cameras at the front and back of the house. Security feeds can be accessed throughout the house on multiple iPad screens.

This house has family in mind with its 5 bedrooms, potential nanny suite, detached garage which is wired for level two charging station, and three patios.

When the client wants open concept but also the opportunity to create privacy in a sunken living room? No problem! We created sliding barn doors that can be fully closed to create privacy or completely open tucking behind custom cabinetry in the kitchen.

Subway tile- It’s the design equivalent of a good pair of jeans. It’s become such a classic, that can create a design statement even while being an economical tile. Dressed up or down it always helps to pull a space together!

Fall long weekends are for family, friends and fall flowers! Thanksgiving weekend has always been a favourite of mine. It's bittersweet as it marks closing our cottage for the season, but it's also a memorable one as we celebrate a final weekend on the water and a chance to see the colours change up north.

Styling & Decorating can be one of the most exciting parts of any project! It's a sign a project is wrapping up and all the curated layers have come together. It’s the time you can finally fill shelves and walls with items from travels, family memories, and (my favorite) vintage finds. All these elements, help make any space feel more like home.
